The H2Optx Pillerator interfaces with the mPAT LAB to provide automated sectioning (5–500µm layer thickness) of solid dosage formulations. Hyperspectral scans of each layer are used to construct a 3D chemical map and structural analysis of a tablet or solid analyte.

These 3D models provide chemical identification and hi-res imaging of excipients, beads, multi-layer coatings, and APIs.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • The CleanCUT™ filtered blade cartridge connects to a portable and/or central vacuum system to clear sectioned powder from the sample well and safely collects it within a sealed HEPA filtered container.
  • A laser interlock prevents the laser from operating while the Pillerator door is open.

How it works

  1. A pill is mounted to the tablet mandrel using epoxy

  2. The tablet mandrel is placed (inverted) into the Pillerator assembly

  3. The Pillerator performs the automated:
    • Loading operation
    • Pill height measurement
    • and adaptive layer-by-layer planing of the tablet

  1. The user selects the tablet layer thickness (from 5um – 500um)
  2. Choose whether to Pillerate through an entire tablet or defined sections (top, middle, bottom, etc.)
  3. Removed powder is cleared & captured into a vacuum-based HEPA filtration system throughout the shaving process
  4. A 3D chemical & structural map is constructed from the layer-by-layer hyper-spectral scans during the Pilleration process

Setup is quick & intuitive (1-5) and the remainder of the process is automated, allowing the user to perform other tasks or run the analysis overnight
